time, we have had to take a closer look at spending, cutting, and giving and these have not been  easy issues to    address.  And yet, the session has had the courage to   wrestle with these matters and I   believe we are seeing some great progress.

We have completed the second capital       campaign and your pledges are faithfully      being given. This congregation has been given a lot, and God continues to bless us in many ways.  May we continue to keep our focus on our Lord as together we give our lives in service to God.

In faithful service, Rev. Pamela Rucker

A rich man once asked his friend, "Why am I criticized for being miserly?  Everyone knows I will leave everything to charity when I die." "Well," said the friend, "Let me tell you about the pig who was   lamenting to the cow one day about how unpopular he was.  'People are always talking about your gentleness and your kind eyes,' said the pig to the cow.  'Sure, you give milk and cream, but I give more. I give bacon, ham, bristles.  They even pickle my feet!  Still, nobody likes me.  Why is this?' the pig asked.  The cow thought a minute and    replied, 'Well, maybe it's because I give while I'm still living.'"

I want to take a moment in this article to tell the members of FPC how moved I am by your generosity and commitment.  You offer your time, your talents and your money - all "while you are still living."  During my interim

Generosity and Commitment
