Welcome to Somerset, First Presbyterian Church!

Dear Friend,

We are delighted to welcome you to worship at First Presbyterian Church!  We are so glad you have entered our Sanctuary doors, and we pray that you found your worship experience with us to be moving and spiritually fulfilling.

At the end of November, Reverend Pamela C. Rucker, who had served as our Interim Pastor for 21 months, was called by the congregation of Nicholasville Presbyterian Church to serve as their full-time pastor.  Presently, we are in somewhat of a “transitional” period as we are in search of a new pastor, while filling our pulpit on Sundays with various experienced and wonderfully, motivating retired or associate ministers.  We have really enjoyed great sermons from all the ministers who have filled our pulpit these past few weeks.

Our Pastor Nominating Committee has been working diligently reviewing Pastor Information Forms (resumes), listening to sermons and conducting personal interviews with prospective pastors.  The PNC has interviewed several well-qualified pastors, and they are confident that God has a plan for us and will soon reveal that special minister He is calling to lead us into the future.

Being without a full-time pastor does not mean that our congregation is on “vacation” or “hiatus”.  We have an extremely active Session and many committees, which assure that the life of the church is vibrant and energetic!  After all, God’s church functions because of its People and does not stop thriving and growing while we seek a new pastor.

We hope that you will join us again for worship and continue to come through our doors on Sunday mornings.

If you have any questions about worship at First Presbyterian Church, please contact the church office, 606-678-5731, and speak with Carol Troxell, our Administrative Assistant. We would be happy to talk with you and answer any questions you may have.

 In Christ,

The Session of First Presbyterian Church
